This heru has four teeth (long things) and a triple koru sits on top. This is a very decorative piece and very popular with kapa haka groups.

The Koru represents new life or new beginnings, growth harmony and peace.

Each Piece is Individually carved from genuine beef bone so there may be slight variations to colour, shape and size.

Made in New Zealand

Traditionally, heru (comb) were often carved from a single piece of wood, whale bone or wooden prongs bound together and worn by Maori men to fasten their long hair into a top knot. Heru indicated the rank of the wearer. Today, heru is worn by both Maori men and women and most commonly at kapa haka performances.
