A powerful blend of protection and new beginnings, this hand-carved pounamu (greenstone) pendant features the Manaia — a spiritual guardian believed to watch over and protect the wearer from harm — combined with the graceful spiral of the Koru, symbolising new life, personal growth, and harmony.

The Manaia, often depicted with the head of a bird, the body of a man, and the tail of a fish, represents the balance between the sky, earth, and sea. Paired with the Koru, inspired by the unfurling silver fern frond, this pendant carries deep cultural meaning and serves as a reminder of resilience, renewal, and the guidance of ancestral spirits.
Each pendant is a unique taonga (treasure), carved from genuine New Zealand pounamu.

Please note: Each piece of pounamu is unique, so colour and pattern may vary slightly from the photo. This natural variation is part of what makes each pendant a one-of-a-kind taonga.

Pounamu Care

Pounamu (greenstone) is a treasured taonga and, with the right care, can last for generations. To maintain its beauty and mana:

  • Wear it often. Pounamu is said to grow stronger and more vibrant the more it is worn, absorbing the wearer’s wairua (spirit).

  • Clean gently – Use a soft cloth and warm water to clean. Avoid harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners.

  • Store with care – Keep your pendant in a soft pouch or separate from other jewellery to prevent scratching.

  • Avoid impact - Although strong, pounamu can chip or break if dropped or hit against a hard surface.
